Hi Everyone!

Welcome to my blog! If you love photography, or just want to see who's been here lately, this is the place to bookmark. I try to post a few images from every session I do, so that means that I'm usually updating this a few times a week. You'll find lots of variety, and hopefully my writing that goes along with the posts won't bore you!

For those of you who don't know me, I'm Tatum Duryba, and I started Paper Moon Photography in 2000. My dad was also a professional photographer, and I grew helping him in the studio. I never realized it was going to be my dream as well, but I love doing what I do. I run my studio out of Grenfell, Sk., but travel all over photographing everything imagineable. Weddings, grads, expectant mommies, newborns, families, sports clubs, animals, and even passports! The list goes on and on, and thank goodness for that. I love getting to photograph something new every day, and turn the ordinary into something a little extra special.

Take a look around the blog, check back often, and if you like what you see, leave a comment!

My regular

Well, it’s that time of year again. I think this is probably our 6th session together, as we get together around her birthday every year. I posted her pics on here last year, and even got to have my own picture taken with her. I can’t say anything more than I did last time. She is the sweetest thing, and I just want to hug her every time I see her! She’s got a cheery, sunny personality, and it just so much fun to be around. :)

Need a new Facebook Profile picture??

I’ve had in my mind for awhile to try and do a fund raiser by doing a Facebook Profile picture marathon. I had wanted to do it when Haiti was hurt, but I didn’t. Then I thought of doing it when Chili had it’s disaster situation. But I didn’t. Then I found something that had more of a personal connection to me, and I know that this is what I want to try and help out with.

The following article was written about a girl from my hometown of Meadow Lake. Her sister and brother-in-law were killed a few weeks ago in a car accident. They had a number of children, and now Karla has become legal guardian to them. As soon as a friend posted this article on Facebook, I immediately decided to do something to try and help her out. Please read the article, and then read on to see what you can do to help….

It wasn\’t all fun and Games - latimes.com

My plan of action is this.  You can book a mini session (5-10 minutes) from now until the end of April. It will be a $10.00 charge, and all funds will go towards helping Karla and the kids out. You will then recieve a digital file of your favorite image from the session. If you want more than one image, it’s another $10.00.  This image will be web-sized only and not useable for printing. If you choose to, you can order prints through the studio. If you do this, all monies from this will be donated as well.

DON’T HAVE TIME TO COME FOR A SESSION??  If you’ve been here in the last little while for a session, and would like to donate $10.00, you can chose an image from your past session. Just give the file name and the donation, and I’ll get you the file.

Thanks in advance for all your help! I’ve already got a few people booked in since I posted this on facebook a few hours ago, so I’m hopeful that this will be a good thing! E-mail me at pmphoto@sasktel.net to book an appointment. I would like to try to stick to a 9:00 - 5:00 schedule if possible.

Engagement - #2

By the time we started this second engagement session, it was already 5:00 p.m. (so happy that it’s staying light a little later these days!!!)  We came across a beautiful Mountain Ash tree, filled with dried red berries. Jackpot!!  It was stunning with the low light hitting it, and they were an affectionate couple, so we got lots of romantic ones in this area. Though winter is more of a challenge shooting outdoor sessions, you can get so many pretty shots with the snowy scenery.

Saturday engagement session - #1

Saturday was a busy day. I had the little guy from the last post, this couple and another couple after them (as well as a wedding consultation and a grad student’s cap & gown pics! Full, full day).  I’ve known this girl for quite a few years, since she is the dance instructor for our local dance group (which is boasting a crew of around 70 students this year!!).  I’ll be photographing their wedding this coming summer, so they’ll be making more appearances here in the future….

Sharp dressed (little) man

This poor guy was not impressed to be at the studio. I felt so terrible for him, cause he was just not wanting to have anything to do with me for the first little while. Eventually though mom and I started visiting, and slowly he got a bit more comfortable with his surroundings, and we were able to sneak a few shots of him.  Once we moved outside though, it was a whole new story! Big smiles, and full tilt running through the snow. He was having the time of his life!! It was so sweet to see how exciting it was for him to be let free, and just play to his hearts content. Studios generally aren’t 2 year old’s favorite places to be. But get them outside, and the real them comes out.  :)

He was running up the side of snow banks and grinning from ear to ear ↑ and even when he fell in the snow ↓ , completely covered and cold, he was still giddy with excitement!

Vintage heaven

I had so much fun shooting this session, and I’m having just as much fun editing them. I love this girl’s style and look, and she was oh so photogenic.  I adore doing vintage-y type looking images, so her outfit lent itself to that very well. Here’s just a few that I had to narrow down to.

Little brother

I’ve photographed this little guy’s older sisters a number of times, and today I got to put him in front of the camera. He wasn’t all smiles at first, but I eventually squeezed a few out.  :)

So glad I caught this shot above.  I had been propping him up on the arm of the chair with my foot while I was shooting (and at the same time also making stupid noises, and playing peek-a-boo and tickling him with my toes. Whew!). Once I took my foot away, he quickly flopped down, and looked completely exhausted!

Grad

Like I mentioned before, I’m all out of intelligent titles for these posts, so I’ve moved on to just putting the title as the category!  I photographed this girl’s older sister last year when she graduated, so now this time, the younger  is in the spotlight.  :)

Mommy to be

This family came out from Regina to do a maternity/family session together. I love that so many people bring their Rider gear!

Grad guy

I’m running out of ideas for titles of posts, so I think I’m going to go for just typing in the category - ex: Grads.  It’s stressful trying to come up with something clever every time!

I like when grad students bring along props or things that they’re interested in. This guy likes Steven Colbert, so we incorporated his book in a few shots.

And this ↓ is what we were going for!
