Saturday afternoon session

After lunch on saturday, this family made the drive out in the snowy conditions. We did a lot in the studio, but in between major white outs, we snuck a few outside too. It was beautiful out, but it was so bright! We had a good time, trying some different things, and just generally fooling around. Thanks for a fun afternoon guys! Good to see you again. :)

Saturday morning session

Last time I photographed this family, their little girl was just a baby.  She didn’t really warm up to me too much, but I was still able to get some shots of those big gorgeous blue eyes! Her big brother was having fun with me though, making faces and goofy smiles.  These guys were also nice enough to let me try out my new backdrop on them. I really like the color (the one of the family). I think it’ll be a good one, with it’s soft neutral tone.

The great outdoors

These three students were all such willing participants for our outdoor sessions today, especially the girls, since they didn’t have the luxury of wearing a big Carhartt jacket, and still looking good! At -15 C, we moved things along as quickly as possible, but we still got a ton of great pics. I love shooting outside so much, but living in Saskatchewan brings lots of not so ideal weather conditions.  It’s nice when I am able to get out of the studio in the winter, even if it’s just for a short time.

To any photogs who follow the blog, I know that the “fuzzy hood/pretty girl” shot has been DONE TO DEATH, but I had never really tried it. It’s still cute, even if it’s getting overplayed.

This girl’s icy blue eyes were just perfect for a wintery setting. It helps that they matched her shirt PERFECTLY!

This horse was so friendly. As soon as we came up to the fence, she came to visit. I couldn’t help but incorporate her, even if it meant sinking up to my knees in snow, while wearing silly fashion-y boots, with no socks. Frosty toes….

What the heck, another album!

I just finished doing this grad album up, so I figured I’d post it as well. I know my albums often have a similar feel to them. I always gravitate towards the tans/browns/earthy tones. I guess they just suit my images best. I like my little floral brush in these though. I think it gives it a cute, whimsical feel.

The session I did with this girl and her two friends was an absolute blast!! They let me take them way out into the country, down bumpy old roads, and into an old abandoned stone house. And it was soooooooooo cold out too. We thought we’d go in the house to do some shots, and hopefully warm up, but with all the windows knocked out, it was colder in there with the wind whistling through! Thanks for letting me play and try out a few new spots with you guys.

Small town wedding album

Many of you may recognize this couple. I posted their images on the blog back in the fall. Well, they must be well known, or popular or both, because I have so many people mention that they saw their images on here. I’ve also had numerous calls for wedding and grad bookings because of them.  Thanks guys!!

I loved doing their wedding. Rural/country weddings are the best (no offense to those who have me booked for a city wedding!!). This was held in the bride’s parent’s back yard out at the farm. That’s just wedding perfection to me. I love shooting outdoor ceremonies. There’s just something about being in nature and saying your vows. That’s how my wedding was, and I wouldn’t have changed a thing. We had a great time driving through the gorgeous Qu’appelle Valley to shoot these images. What made it even more special is that most of the shots were taken on her dad’s land.  I can’t wait to get this album in! :)

Negatives for Sale

Since I switched to digital 5 years ago, I have been wanting to get around to trying to sell off my old client negatives. I never knew how to let people know though, as a lot of my contact information was outdated. So I thought the blog might be the best solution.

If you have had a session done with me in the past 8 years, and it was still in the film days (anything before January 1, 2004), you can now purchase your negatives if you would like. Here’s what I’m charging.

Regular session (Grad, Family, Children) - $25.00

Weddings - $75.00

I don’t feel like keeping filing cabinets full of negatives forever, but I can’t really just throw them out. If you, or someone you know of, is interested in purchasing negatives from past sessions, please contact me at pmphoto@sasktel.net or 306-697-2435.

Thanks!

a few more (the Urban collection!)

Here are a few more from my “just for me” shoot. Since the others were all kind of nature-ish, these ones can be called my “urban” ones. Cause being all Urban is the cool thing to be right now. So I’m on the bandwagon ;)  Enjoy!

Anyone notice the subliminal message here? BUY LAYS CHIPS FROM CDs ENTERTAINMENT….  Actually I prefer Old Dutch, but anything salty is good by me.

My escape to creativity

On Saturday afternoon, I was itching to get out of the house. Between the frigid temps, and my kid getting chicken pox, we’ve been a little cooped up. I have been wanting to get out and take some new winter shots, but it just never seems to happen.  I had to return a movie, so I snuck out for a couple extra minutes and tried to explore the town. I was too much of a baby to get out of the truck, so almost all of these were shot through the window.

I also wanted to try some different processing on these, so they didn’t look like boring winter shots. The sundogs were out, and I LOVE how it turned out with our tourist booth and the drifting snow. I’ve got a few more to share, but I’ll post those in a few days. I don’t have any people sessions until friday, as I’m trying to get inventory done this week. I’ll have some grads to post after the weekend, so I’m excited to get back shooting after taking a few weeks partially off over holidays.

A big high five to anyone who can figure out what this shot is. Maybe it’s obvious, but my 7 year old couldn’t guess what it was. My husband knew right away, but I still thought it was an interesting image.

New images on the website finally!

I looked at my website the other night and realized that it was in dire need of a facelift. I hadn’t updated it in so long, because I’m always adding to this instead! I stayed up til 4:00 a.m. last night (and took a break at 2:00 a.m. to give my chicken pox infected son an oatmeal bath!) and got it all refreshed. I did soooo many families this fall! I just chose files that I still had on my hard drive, so don’t be hurt if your family didn’t make it! I do plan on adding more in a few weeks, but I just needed to get started for now.

Take a few minutes to go through the site. Unless you’re not from around here, you’ll likely see lots of people you recognize. And quite possibly yourself!

2009

I’ve been searching my favorite quotes site for about 45 mintues, and it’s 3:23 a.m.  My eyes aren’t focusing anymore, and I can’t find anything that strikes me as something I want to share to welcome the new year. So I will just leave this wintery picture with you, and send you my wishes for a year filled with new experiences, renewed love, and a positive outlook.

God bless and thanks to all the new clients I’ve met, and the old ones who keep coming back!
