Alex

I have been waiting almost a half a year to post these pictures!!! Alex Runions is an awesome musician, and has been working on his second album for the past few months. I’m sooo excited that these images will be used in it! The release has been delayed a bit, but as soon as it gets completed, I’ll be sure to post about it. You can visit his myspace page here.  If you hear his name, and get a chance to see him play, please do. He’s a very talented guy, and he’s  a great person too, so that makes it even better. This was our second shoot together, and I love working with him. He’s really laid back and just lets me do my thing. He puts on his sexiness, and we’ve got an awesome set of pictures!  There were hot girls in the last post, so here’s your hot boy for today!

5 hot chicks

On wednesday, despite a nasty winter storm, these five grad students made the drive to the studio to come for their casual sessions.  They were so much fun! We had a blast shooting all afternoon, inside and out. I really enjoyed photographing all of them together.  They were all so excited to be here, and we basically shot and laughed and joked around for 2 1/2 hours. It was a pretty nice way to spend an afternoon that would have otherwise been very depressing for a spring day! Thank you girls so much for making your appointments, even though the weather was unbelievable. And a big thank you to Mrs. Bear for driving them all!

I also have to mention how warm and appreciative these girls were. After we had wrapped up, I got hugs from them! I don’t think there are many jobs out there where your clients give you a hug for a job well done. That meant so much to me girls. Best of luck with everything in your future! :) It was so awesome meeting you all.

My new hair!

I hope this doesn’t look like an arrogant post, with me putting my own pictures up. I’m just so excited about my new hair cut and color! I very rarely get my hair done, and I’m fairly lazy about actually taking time to do it properly in the mornings. Yesterday though, I went to Hairlock Designs in Grenfell, and I finally got myself taken care of. I’m soooo glad I did. It’s amazing what a good haircut can do to make you feel terrific.  Anyway, I was very happy with the results, so I had to do a quick self portrait in the studio. It’s quite interesting trying to do this. I put a boot down on the floor, had my camera propped up on some albums, pre-focused on the boot, then scurried into place and threw the boot out of the way before the shutter went off!

Happy dancer

This little dude came in smiling, and laughing, and being goofy, and didn’t stop until we were nearing the end. He was such a sweetheart! We had the Maroon 5 cranked up in the studio, and he was showing off some dance moves. 11 months, or walking age, is one of the trickiest ages to do, because they are never sitting still! But they’re also so much fun, because they’ve got so much personality by their first year.  Hope these pics  put a smile on your face!

New love

I got to meet a sweet little girl tonight, and she is perfectly beautiful!! You can see her mommy’s belly pics here.  My 3 year old was quite excited to meet her as well, and spent alot of the session with us, checking here out. She was a very hungry girl, but we did manage to get her on her own for a bit.  Here’s God’s miracle for today.

More laughter

I don’t even know what to say about this kid. Anyone who knows him, knows he’s just a bit of a goofball. Very cheerful, not often serious, and always saying something to try and make you laugh. He’s a good guy, and fun to be around. He’s definately got a unique way of putting a smile on your face!

Laughter

These two were so much fun. They were laughing and giggling the whole time. We managed to sneak a few romantic ones in, but for the most part, the session was a little more light-hearted. Thanks so much for all your excitement and happiness. I was kind of having a bad afternoon, so you two cheered me right up! If ya’ll return to the blog in late October, you’ll see some wedding pics.  :)

I was in a textury mood when I was processing these, so they are a little funked up. For anyone who’s wondering, I always include an original version, and the modified version in the previews. I love doing the different stuff in post-processing, but not everyone does. There’s always an option.

A bright, bright, sunshiny day

Yes, it was another very cold day for shooting, but I’m getting so tired of having all my posts start off by me saying how cold it is. So, I’ve titled this post “Bright, bright, sunshiny day” as an ode to Johnny Nash (for the 95% of you out there who don’t know who I’m talking about, he’s the guy who wrote the song “I can see clearly now” - I can see clearly now, the rain is gone. I can see all obstacles in my way. Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind. It’s gonna be a bright, bright, bright sunshiny day. Click on his name and you’ll get a pop up of a YouTube video. Better yet, minimize it and let it play while you browse the blog. I guarantee you, you’ll be in a great mood after listening to this song!:)  It’s one of my all-time favorite songs, and the skies were a brilliant blue the day we shot these. So we’ll celebrate that, instead of that fact that we were FREEZING!!!!

O.k. On with other things. I’ve known this family since before they even were a family. I worked with the mom back in my Credit Union days, waaaaay back in history. Our lives have grown from being engaged, to married, to having kids. They’ve got two adorable little girls, and it was fun photographing them, no matter the weather.

Feeling sexy….

Last year this girl came in to get some photos done of herself, for her husband. She lives 8 hours from me, so I was a little nervous, wanting to make sure I got exactly what she was hoping for, since she’d made such a long drive! Here’s an e-mail I received from her a few days ago….

Hi Tatum,

This e-mail is really nothing more than praise for you - sorry, I know you’re a busy lady!  I had to e-mail you to let you know that I’m currently 8 months pregnant, and feeling a little down about the shape of my body, but I looked through the photos that you and I did together last April, and it instantly made me feel better!  You have such talent, and the pictures came across exactly how I wanted them to. They now serve the exact purpose I wanted them to as well, a little pick me up when I’m feeling like a beach ball, and a reminder that someday, I might just look like that again.  :)  Thanks again for the beautiful work you do.

That just made my day. These sessions are a lot of fun, and it’s awesome to be able to capture a person’s physical and inner beauty. And you will leave a session like this feeling pretty dang hot and sassy!

Beauty

This girl stopped in this afternoon for a quick photo session. She has been accepted to move forward in the Miss Teen Canada competition for a chance to represent Sasktachewan. 3 finalists will be chosen from our province to move on to the national level. She will be going to Saskatoon soon to try to make the cut to be one of those three. So if you see her, with her luck! She’s an awesome person, inside and out. I only met her briefly, but she had a real warmth about her. She’s just such a sweetheart.

She was also one of the attendees at the Job Fair on tuesday. I had done a draw for a free session at each presentation I did. Guess who won a free session??!! Yaaay for her! What great luck. She had already booked this session awhile back, so it worked out well for her to get the freebie as well. :)
