Lucky girl

At the end of April this girl was supposed to come for her casuals, but never made it. I got the message from another student that she had been in a car accident and wasn’t quite ready to come for pictures. When she came in last week, she told me the whole story. Let me just say, this girl had the angels on her side that day. She hit a deer, going highway speed, rolled her vehicle, and landed on the roof, on the wrong side of the highway, in the ditch. Plus, her airbag never went off. There is no reason why this girl should still be alive, but I do believe in miracles, and this was a biggie.  I’m so glad that she was feeling good enough to come down for her casuals. She has a few cracked ribs, and was a bit stiff, but she did whatever I asked her to do! Praise God.

Last Grenfell casual session

On tuesday afternoon, we headed out to shoot my last Grenfell grad casual session, and it was awesome!!  I say we, because I had two helpers today. One is a SIAST photography student that is here all week as part of her course. The other was Casey, my 3 1/2 year old.  One was a real helper, one was not. But I think they both enjoyed the session. It’s always fun doing shoots at a person’s home, where everything has a little bit more meaning. We did lots with the horses, tip toed around manure to get to a cool little building, and some trees in the woods, then found the best hammock in their sunroom. Thanks to Marcy for being the real helper today, and to Skylar’s mom for entertaining Casey while we were busy doing our thing!

This is my favorite. I kind of thought it had a real 70s, golden sun, hazy hippy look to it. Maybe it’s just me….

Color…

This afternoon we had a beautiful day to go out shooting. This girl from the Broadview class came down and we ran around changing locations and clothes until we ran out of time. We got some cool vibrant shots against the cool blue wall, with the awesome red scarf. Love it!  Next friday is the Broadview grad, so all these kids that have been on here in the last few months will be back in their gowns, so stay tuned.  :)

Back to the grads

This grad student came with lots of cool ideas, so we headed out later on in the evening to try and incorporate his guitar, and his love for writing.  I think we were succesful!

A change of pace

We shall take a short intermission from our regular scheduled grad sessions, to bring you one about LOVE. :)  I’m photographing these high school sweetheart’s wedding in August, and they popped in saturday night for their engagement session. We had beautiful light, and drove all over finding new locations to shoot at. Their wedding will be near the gorgeous Qu’appelle Valley, so we’re sure to have some more awesome images from that, especially since it’s in August. I’m so excited! I love august weddings. In my opinion, that’s THE best month to get married (although my wedding was in June!). There is just a different light in August that’s so romantic, and soft. I LOVE it! Best of luck with your remaining planning guys! Thanks for making another trip home for the session.

Elegance

This girl BLEW ME AWAY!!  I’ve been photographing her for years, as she belongs to one of the skating clubs that I cover every season.  She’s a real sweetheart, and has an upbeat, cheerful personality. I’ve been looking forward to doing her pictures for months, because I just think she’s a cool chick. Then she got infront of the camera, and wham-o,  she totally went super star on me! She has these incredible cheekbones and amazingly elegant body language. Thank you, thank you for allowing me to capture you Ms. Q!!

STUNNING!!
