Pretty in pink

Because of horrendous winds, we did some of this little lady’s shots inside and just a handful out on the front steps.  I even broke out some never used props since we were contained to the studio for the most part. The wings in the last shot looked so cute on her, and incredibly enough, they didn’t really even bug her too much!

Reuniting

The day after my Saskatoon wedding last weekend, I stopped in Blackstrap to see an old high school friend. We recently got back in touch with eachother, after being out of school for an undisclosed amount of time (I can’t say how long, but I missed my 10 year class reunion and that was a few years back!)  It was so neat to meet her family and see her in a non-high school type of way. I don’t keep in touch with many friends from home, but when you do get back in touch, it’s so awesome to rekindle friendships as adults. Renee is a beautiful, wonderfully stylish, caring, soft gentle soul. She has such terrific kids, an amazing husband and an incredible home.  They were so relaxed and easy going with their kids, and with three this young and close in age, that takes alot of effort! Thank so much for cleaning my shoes Leon, and thanks for the carrots, grapes and water for the road! Oh, and the yummy whole wheat pancakes. You guys took care of me well.   :)  Thank you for having me out.

What Saskatchewan family session is complete, without a little Rider Pride??!

Loads of energy

I’ve photographed this fun family before, but it’s been a few years. We’ve alway been in the studio for our previous sessions, so it was really nice to be able to have a decent enough day to do an outdoor shoot. I’m usually completely worn out when I shoot a session with a young family, and this was no exception.  We had lots of action. Racing, wild flower picking, dandelion blowing, swinging, bumps. You name it, we did it! I’m sure mom and dad were pooped too. But lots of movement means lots of fun family pics.

Regina sessions

I had a nice change of pace on friday, and I shot a few sessions in the city, instead of around Grenfell.  The first family were so easy to photograph. Look at those smiles!  The kids were such good sports. I know getting your picture taken isn’t the most fun a kid can have on a hot summer’s day, but they were being so awesome!  The second session with the little girl took a bit more work, but a little running and chasing, and goofing around eventually brought the smiles out.  I burned off a few calories sprinting along side her, but the games worked, and she warmed up to me part way into the session.  Hope you guys had a great weekend!

New location

After a torrential downpour and hail in the afternoon, I wasn’t sure what the heck was going to happen with my evening session.  Thankfully the sun shone as it does after a storm, and we had beautiful, albeit muggy and stuffy, weather.  I had one location in town that I wanted to use. Kris Kardash has an incredible flower garden, so I knew it would cute with a little girl.  After that we took a bit of a drive out to another area I had wanted to try.  It also turned out to be a great spot. Thanks for coming guys. I hope you enjoyed your session!

Destination: Indian Head - Pt. 1

Last week I headed out to Indian Head to shoot a day’s worth of families. This was the first one up.  This family wanted some pictures down this beautiful lane, and I was happy to oblige. I just never tire of doing the “family holding hands walking” shot.  The kids inevitably look up at mom and dad, and it’s just so precious. I love it! These are the types of pictures that I think make great canvases. They’re a bit more timeless and emotional.

A girly girl

Friday’s session was a fun one. I knew when I booked in a little girl that I wanted to try and find somewhere with lots of flowers. I thought of a lady in town’s backyard, and it worked out perfectly (other than the mosquitos of course.  In the vertical shot of her by the red flowers in the pot, I had to get rid of 6 mosquitoes that were on various parts of her body!!)  I hope she didn’t got home with dozens of welts all over her. She cooperated really well though, and the fact that she wasn’t quite walking helped me out!

Relatives

On wednesday night my husband’s aunt and uncle and their crew came out for a photo session. The two little girl cousins could not have been sweeter.  I was in LOVE with their cute pink dresses! With the evening sun, their gorgeous curls, the canola growing between the tracks and the soft colors,  it was perfectly romantic!  Yes, they were busy toddlers, and we were kept on our toes, but it was so neat to see their relationship with eachother.  The seemed more like sisters than cousins. And yes, I did get pictures of other groupings other than the girls, but they’re just precious together, so I’m posting a bunch of the two of them!

Busy, busy, busy

Little boys are busy. Little 2 year old boys are exceptionally busy.  I was pooped out enough playing with the little guys, but dad was literally dripping with sweat!! When you have a young family, your session is going to be very active, just so you know!!  That’s why I prefer doing sessions with little people in the summer, when we can be outside. We had a ton of fun, but the outtakes are absolutely hilarious!! I could do a post just with the awesomeness of them. :)  Thanks so much for coming guys.  I know you had to work hard for it, but it was worth it. There are some super sweet shots.

I know the image below is a wonky angle, and distorted with the wide angle, but I still like it.  I had been tickling him with grass, and he decided to go after me. I was taking pictures as he chased me around, and this was one that turned out great! Look at those eyes!

↓ Just one of the many priceless expressions dad had while trying to keep everyone in check. By this point, the boys were not happy in this position, and dad figured he may as well join in on the unhappiness of the moment. Love it!

Baby time!

Ooooh!!! This guy was soooo sweet!! I can’t remember the last time I photographed a 3 month old. He was just a perfect little treat.  I did his mommy and daddy’s wedding awhile ago, and it was nice to see them again, with their growing family!  Enjoy.   :)

Soft toning ↑ or black adn white?? ↓  I think both are irresistable!!
