Baby pics

This baby was so sweet, and strong, and well behaved. He didn’t want to sleep too much, but he was still pretty cooperative. And I finally got a chance to use the little boy toque I bought last winter!  I did his mommy and daddy’s wedding last fall, so it was cool to see them again, as a new family.  here’s a link to their wedding pictures.

And more relatives!

On thursday, we got to celebrate Canada Day with three completely wonderful people. My husband’s cousin had a baby boy a week and a half ago, and we got to meet him! Casey kind of took a liking to him, and Aiden serenaded him on the guitar. I photographed mommy and daddy’s wedding almost a year ago, so a lot has changed for them in this first year of marriage! Kristina has the most beautiful spirit, and she and her husband are going to be incredible parents.  I loved being able to photograph them in their own home. I don’t always do this, but it sure is cool to see people in their own environment, getting used to this new little creature in their lives.  Thanks so much for letting us come visit you so soon after your delivery. It’s not easy playing hostess when you are still recovering from childbirth, so we really appreciate you letting us come meet him. God bless guys! :)  And a late Happy Canada day everyone!!

On a side note, this session was in Yorkton. We left the city as the skies started to get dark and scary looking, later on in the afternoon. We got caught on the highway in that torrential downpour. Our wipers couldn’t keep up, and I was afraid we’d start hydro planing and slide into the lane of oncoming traffic. We got pelted by a bit of hail, and though I’m not usually a nervous traveller, even in snow storms,  I was feeling my heart racing. When I woke up this morning and went on MSN, I saw the images of Yorkton and all the flooding that happened during that storm.  Unbelievable.  It looked like the images in New Orleans a few years back.  Glad we were able to get home safely when we did. I’m sure there were others who weren’t so lucky.

Couldn’t decide if I liked vertical or horizontal better??

Grads of 2028

With so many grads lately, it was a nice change of pace to do a set of newborn twins! But they will be graduates in 2028!  O.k. I know I’m a dork. But it’s hard coming up with titles for these posts after awhile.  These two were such little sweethearts. We did our best to get them both sleeping at the same time, which was a bit of a challenge, but I didn’t hear them cry once. They were so good! Just awake and not wanting to sleep sometimes. :)  Mom and dad were so super relaxed and at ease with them, and that makes the session so much easier. They were both great.  This is only my second time shooting newborn twins, but it’s just so amazing. I love getting them close to eachother and seeing the way they cuddle. You may see one of these shots next time you’re in the studio. I’m having a hard time resisting getting a HUGE one of the close up of the second one in the post.

Newborn twins!!

Since it’s been quiet around the blog, I’m posting alot from this special session. I don’t know if I mentioned it before on here, but I’ve tried to take January off from shooting for the most part. All the little jobs (doing up pricing brochures, making business cards, printing my own pictures, designing wedding albums, etc) tend to get delayed when I’m shooting so steady. But when I got a call last week with an inquiry about photographing newborn twins, I couldn’t say no. Before this year, I’d never photographed twins at all, and now, in the past three months, I’ve photographed 3 sets of twin girls! These were my first newborns though, so I was up for the challenge.

These two sweeties behaved very well! We took our time all afternoon, but we got a variety of shots together, and individually. It was so neat to see a real life miracle. These twins girls were brought into this family at the perfect time, and are going to be a blessing to everyone around them. Congratulations on your wonderful little treasures!

Back to newborns

It wasn’t that long ago that I photographed this little girl’s big brother’s newborn pictures! They’re pretty close in age, so I’m sure mom will be very busy for the next few months (or years I should say!)  I got to try out my new boat prop. It didn’t work out too badly! Thanks to the wonderful Carol Thomlinson for talking me into buying it. :)  She promised me a baby would fit in it, and it worked.

A new brother

This little guy is lucky to have a wonderful, caring big sister welcoming him to the world.  She is so in love with him, and will no doubt become mommy’s assistant. Little girls are just naturals that way I think. We stole dad’s boots from him for a few shots, and the blanket that babe is wrapped in belonged to dad as a baby. The fact that it matched the boots so well was just icing on the cake.

PEACE, MAN!

A new relative

This little girl was so bright eyed and beautiful. She’s also my husband’s cousin’s new baby, so she’s kind of special to us.  I’ve had such good luck with my newborns lately. They’ve all been very cooperative, and so content!  Welcome to the Duryba clan missy. :)

Another new bundle

Yesterday afternoon I was thrilled to be able to take pictures of this little guy.  He was probably the easiest, most cooperative newborn I’ve ever done. He just let us put him in whatever position we wanted to, and he loved being naked. Mom and I were both nearly ready to pass out from having the heat cranked so high in the studio, but he was happy, so all was good. I wanted to get these images up a.s.a.p. because little M’s one set of grandparents live in Pittsburg, so they haven’t gotten to see him yet in real. So here you go Crowe family. Your newest addition!! I can’t imagine how excited you all are to come and meet him next week.

This image below was a yawn, but it looked so much like he was laughing at the best joke ever!

Another new boy!

This morning I got to meet a little man that we’ve been waiting to meet for 9 months! His mommy and daddy are good friends of ours, and we’ve all be anxious for his arrival.  He is a perfect doll, and didn’t cry the entire time I was there. I got to give him lots of cuddles and love, and take a few pictures in between. I can’t wait to see him change and grow and become friends with my two boys. Between our two families, we have four boys, so our get togethers will consist of motor sports, remote control trucks, bug catching, and all other things boyish. Welcome to the world mister!!

Newborn Rider Fan

I had to lead this post with the image below. It took us awhile to get this little guy good and asleep, enough to mold him where we wanted to. Once he was finally sacked out though, I was able to get him into the bowl and I put his hand on the ball. It only stayed a split second, but it was enough! I love this picture!! We got many more, and even though mom and dad thought he wasn’t all together cooperating, he was a great baby. He never even pooped or peed on anyone, which is rare for a newborn session. :)   He’s got a great family to come into the world with, and I’m sure his big sister will be a second mommy to him. Enjoy the mini preview!
